It is nothing short of magic to me
that human beings
are sixty percent water
I am fascinated by this
the idea that this
is the same element
that is gentle enough
to circle the whole world
in an aquamarine embrace
Is hard enough that
when frozen
carved valleys out of ancient earth
as it slowly moved and melted
long ago
Is ambitious enough
to stretch its silt
and moss bed fingers
over continents to form
the lifeblood of empires
And that this same ocean-flavored
ice-kissed, flowing power
alive
lives within all of us
just waiting to be unleashed
