We are so excited to announce our partnership with I LIKE NETWORKING. This month, we’ll be commissioning three new pieces from emerging writers, responding to our chosen theme of growth.
Keeping with Aurelia Magazine’s usual output, we are looking for first-person pieces. The word count will be decided on a case-by-case basis upon commission.
The applications launch on 11th October and close on the 31st at midnight (GMT)
Commissioned pieces will be published on Aurelia Magazine and writers will be paid £40 each.
In this instance, even if you are unsuccessful, the Aurelia editors will get back to you with feedback and advice on how to strengthen your pitch.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send your pitch to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject title as ‘Writers, Emerge!’ followed by a title for your piece.
The piece you wish to write for us must be in response to our theme of ‘Growth’ – this can be interpreted any way you like – though please include a couple of sentences on how you feel your piece will explore it. Your pitch should also be accompanied by an opening paragraph so we can get a feel of your writing style. Please also include an Author bio written in the third person for use upon publication.
If you are of a marginalised gender (a woman, a non-binary person or a trans man) you are welcome to pitch to Writers, Emerge! There is no age limit, however to be eligible you must not have been published more than five times online or in print. There is some leeway with this – for example, if you have only written for student publications or volunteer-led magazines, you may still apply, though please outline this in your email and provide links!
Non UK based writers are welcome to apply.
Good luck! We can’t wait to read your ideas.
